Anybody tried the Bushnell Rimfire Optics series of scopes?

Thinking of one on the Marlin 917 I just picked up. Thinking about the 3-9x or 3-12x w side focus.

If anybody has one of these how well do the turrets seem to match up with real world trajectories?

10gaugemag,

I picked one up to try out and I was really impressed how clear it was - not a Zeiss or ?, but quite good! It was put on a CZ .22 rifle and holds it's setting as it should. Mine is the 3-9X. I can't ask for more. I have no problem buying another. I hope this helps your decision? Best of luck with whatever brand you decide upon.

Do you use the turret feature or just set it and forget it?

I just set it and forget it. (Great scope for the money, I think.)

Bushnell makes excellent rimfire optics for the money.

But for me, the new ones being offered are too heavy and a bit bulky and would be out of balance on the only 22 rifle I own.,a Ruger 77/22 (1986)

I think Bushnell once made a rimfire Banner 4x32 and certainly 3/4" tube models with decent optics that would fit my rifle well.

I perused optics choices for a new scope for the Ruger including the new Leupold Freedoms and Weaver Classics and they appear to be excellent. But IMO, a scope is very personal in that I need a scope with good eye relief and length for my particular cheek weld and shooting purpose and style. I am not a stock crawler or target shooter, mainly a hunter and I like to be on target with a full FOV when the rifle is anchored to my cheek.. Also, I like relatively lightweight.

That said, I chose a Sightron 3-9X32 SIH (Hunting) scope with 50 yard parallax adjustment and plain wire crosshair....I don't favor or need a variable, but the scope had other attributes to my liking including what I mentioned above..
The choice was a compromise, but fit the bill.....this is a new 1917 model with no known reviews so I just went with Sightron's reputation and photos. It might not have the best of everything but was as close to what I was looking for that I could find...should be delivered tomorrow.

I like the side focus much better than an adjustable objective. Nikon has a nice one also for about $175.
But the best bang for the buck, in my opinion, is the Simmons 22 Mag 3-9x32 AO. Very lightweight and compact, and around $60.
Neither of these have the calibrated turrets though.

I bought a used BSA Sweet 17, also available with 22 LR turrets, in a 4-12x40 AO for $40 to use on a fairly heavy .177 springer pellet gun for my long range (75 yard) backyard target setup. It's big and heavy and the recoil from the springer shook the AO adjustment ring loose. It's a sturdy scope(about 24 ounces) and it still works good even with the ring popping loose every couple of shots, but I wouldn't put it on a rifle except for target shooting.
I haven't bothered to try and figure out the turrets yet. so this probably isn't much help. But if I had it to do over I'd just get the Simmons without the turrets.

For an HMR, I like the Burris Fullfield II 3-9X with the Ballistic Plex reticle, the marks on the reticle match almost perfectly the HMR trajectory. You can usually find them on sale somewhere or another, for under $200. I REALLY like them on .17HMRs. With the 17gr. V-Max Hornady load, it matches up very well. I've used it on prairie dogs and it worked like a champ.

The Trophy XLT 4-12 AO (discontinued, but still to be found) I bought for my springer was a steal at $131. It's mounted on my new CZ, waiting for quiet weather. Prices are running a bit higher now. The Hawkes look good too, but I haven't tried the RF ones yet. The SS 6x42 would be excellent too, naturally.

I bought the 2x7 AR Rimfire here for the S&W M&P 15-22 I picked up for my kids. Won't get to try it out until this weekend.

Ended up with a Hawke 4-12x 40mm AO with the 17 HMR reticle. Ran down to see what my buddy had in stock and decided to try this one.

He did have a Nikon 3-9x EFR I was keen on, may try it on my 22. Very clear little scope.
