I have 131 rounds of 223 brass without the flash holes punched or drilled. It says FC and 69 on the base. WHY? I also have 6BR brass and 250 Savage brass without the flash holes. I do know in past years we drilled our flash holes looking for the ultimate in accuracy as people were sure flash hole size affected accuracy. I know that was the case with my 2 cases of Remington 6BR brass. Don't know why on the 223 and 250. I also have 250 Savage and 30-30 brass without head stamp. It was made by Federal, why?

Don't think so. An old friend passed away several years ago. He was in the first class of the Benchrest Hall of Fame. I purchased all of his brass, bullets, primers, and powder and other misc. items. I have Red's 22RF and 22 mag RF that was necked to 17 cal in the late 60s. I had a case of 5000 primed 22 mag brass that he necked to 17 in the old days. Much prior to the Hornady stuff. I have a lot of 30-30 and 250 brass without head stamp among a great deal of other stuff. I brought a pickup load and went back and picked up a load of black walnut blanks. Nothing fancy, but made very good stocks.

Red was a very good man. He had the ear of folks in the industry. I think this was why he had so many different things. He handed me a 40X receiver in about 1997 to give to a shooter in Louisiana at the Crawfish Shoot. It was a one off left port, right bolt receiver that Mike Walker had given to him to make a BR rifle on. Yes it had a right port to allow the spent brass to eject out the RH side. Red was known for his 22 Red Russian cartridge. Red took the 6BR brass without flash holes drilled the .0625 flash holes. rebated the rims to 223 size, shortened then (pushed the shoulder back) .100" and turned a step in the neck for the bullet to seat on. I have a few rounds of his left. This was in the day that they were looking for the better cartridge than the .222 and before the PPC.

I didn't know him but I have a friend who knew him through T. Jordan who had also passed before I fell into this circle. Both men were highly thought of.
