the only real difference between a good tracker and a bad tracker, is observation. all the same data is present for both. The rest, is understanding what you're seeing.

Apparently your scope was unhappy. How was it to shoot?

Apparently your scope was unhappy. How was it to shoot? Rifle shoots fine. I might, at some later date, install a smoother trigger. Works (mil-spec)but could be improved.

Lots of good AR triggers.. but you can do a..screw through the grip hole and made a really good 3.5# AR trigger...single stage.Ive done several. A stone and a 50 cent 1/4" screw is all it takes

Not surprising that the NC Star wasn't up to the task. I'll bet that baby has some thump.

Not surprising that the NC Star wasn't up to the task. I'll bet that baby has some thump. Not really. I would put felt recoil between a 20ga and a 12ga. You will lose your sight picture, but back on target pretty quickly. It held and adjusted consistently, (though a bit blurry at max mag) until the next to last shot of the day. I let the range marshal fire a shot, before sighting in, so 20 rounds fired in total, before failure.

Kellory, did you buy it complete or buy an upper? I bought the upper complete. Assembled the lower from parts. Uses standard mags with single stack followers. I have 10rd and 5 round mags. ( Legal deer limit is 3 in the gun)

Contacted the scope's manufacturer, and they say they will repair it under warranty. (I'll believe it when I see it) Mailing details and turnaround time not yet known.

Walsh gun and tackle supplied mine. Came with a choice of 5 rd or 10rd mag. Walsh Gun & Tackle 5020 N Caseville Rd, Caseville, MI 48725 (989) 856-4465 https://maps.google.com/?cid=13980523181381325795(Went together like a swiss watch. No issues at all with it.) I still need to get some folding sights as back up, for times like now. Any recommendations on metal folding sights that will not break the bank?

Didn't you say in another thread that this is a Bear Creek upper? Or was that someone else? Edit - never mind, that was someone else with a 450 BM upper, in the "Bear Creek Arsenal" thread.

Mike and Scott are good people They were on the 450 uppers very early Hank My only issue with them was trying to buy a 5 rd mag after the point of sale. I wanted a smaller mag for hunting deer, when the limit is 3 shots in the gun. (No point to a 10rd mag then, and I didn't want a prone shot resting on the mag.) He never got around to it. I purchased it elsewhere.

On the subject, Ruger just introduced it's own .450 BM AR-15.. Randys Hunting Center in Bad Axe, MI has them listed at $799.

Well...NcStar has surprised me. I returned the damaged scope and it arrived yesterday. That scope is no longer made, and they do not repair. It was a 3-12×50mm E. They no longer go up to 12mag either. As of tomorrow morning, there is a brand new 2.5-10x50mm illuminated redical in route to my home. They didn't even ask for a receipt. It will fit the same scope rings as well. They also said that it will handle the recoil for this rifle with ease. Not to worry. I'm impressed.
