It's a nice lens but with the deal out there on the Tamron 18-400 the Tamron is the far better option
It has better coatings, better image stabilization, MUCH better range and a 6 year warranty. I have both the 18-135 STM and the newer 18-135 USM. Both great lenses from a general purpose standpoint. I use them as general walk-around lenses and also for cross country as well as track and field. I have also used them for landscape photography. The USM version has extremely fast AF. A friend has the Tamron 18-400 and it is nice but I don't love the images at the higher magnifications as much as those from some other telephoto lenses
