Just picked up a new Browning BL-22, Grade II. Trigger feels great. I'm looking forward to shooting it on Saturday. Dennis

I got a chance to go to the range this morning. I shot the BL-22 off-hand at 15 and 25 yards and off the bench at 50 yards using mini-mag ammo. Very pleased with the results. Much easier to hold and shoot off-hand than the several marlin 39s I've owned probable due to the BL-22s lighter weight. The short lever throw also means you and chamber a new round without moving the position of the rifle. I really like the little critter.
Anyone else shoot the BL-22? Thanks, Dennis

I bought one for my son and stashed it back, then gave it to him when he was 12. Really a slick rifle.
My uncle, who is in his 80s has one and convinced me years ago with some great advice:
"The biggest mistake a grown man can make is not buying himself a nice .22 rifle."

A rather under-rated rifle IMO. Mine is a "ranch-rifle" and as such, always loaded, often used and rarely cleaned. For all its abuse, it has never failed me, nor is there any discernable degradation of accuracy. Good choice, enjoy.

LOL! I find it hard to believe that it doesn't generate 1000s of positive comments. It's the perfect light weight companion to my Marlin 1894 .44 Magnum and my Marlin 1895 45-70! Dennis

That is the rifle I learned to shoot with. I'll never forget the times me and dad spent shooting that BL-22. When I was old enough he gave it to me and its now in my safe, goes with me just about everytime i go to the range. My son (whenever that happens) will learn to shoot with that rifle and hopefully so will his.

I have had my BL-22 for a little over 10 years now and cannot tell you how many tree rats that have fallen to it. Great little rifle, I would never consider selling it.

A golf course is a sad misuse of a perfectly good rifle range.

The BL22 I used to own was best with standard velocity (match) ammunition. You won't own that rifle, so you have to do your own testing.

How good was it with those match loads?

Wow, this is the most feed back I've seen on-line about the performance of the Browning BL 22 line.
Desiring an octagonal barrel with an all steel receiver it rapidly narrowed down the search, I either had the choice of an early model Marlin 39 with an HS prefix on the serial number, or the Browning.
Just ordered the Browning this afternoon. Provided the dealer can find one. It seems the octagonal barrel version is only available to full line dealers.

Picked up the BL-22 Grade II, FLD Octagonal today. I'm VERY impressed with the quality, seems to have a great trigger, and fairly smooth action. I ended up calling Browning in Utah to find where they shipped them. Time permitting perhaps I'll get to the range Sunday to try it.
The dealer asked if I planned on shooting it? Makes me wonder if they plan on discontinuing this model.

Had one once. Back in my younger/poorer/stupider days I traded it off for a shotgun so my now ex-wife could go bird hunting with me. One of the dumbest things I ever did! Wish I had my BL-22 back!
