Ordered 6 Dolgo Crabapple seedings last week. Man I love some Crabapple jelly...
Spent today prepping the planting sites. These will be the start of a very small backyard orchard. Spent way too much time being fussy with everything. String, measuring tapes, spray paint...gotta get them good and straight. Lol
Cut the sod out in a 5’ circle at each site and replaced it with some shredded topsoil. Ready for mulch (Wood Chips), seedlings, and grow tubes. Seedlings were ordered online and should be here tomorrow. I decided to try those grow tubes to keep the deer and vermin off of them till they get about 5’. Supposed to speed up growth also. We will see...

My fruit trees are blooming. The peach has already bloomed, and the 5 apple and cherry tree are in full bloom now. The peach has been a big disappointment, and I should cut it down, but I love seeing it in full bloom. I struggle with getting good apples, and have to do a lot of spraying. The cherry always puts out a good crop.

Looking good James. Yeah, peaches don’t do well in my area either. I think it’s the late frosts and cold snaps. I’m surprised apples don’t do well down by you...

If you notice in the righthand corner of the first pic, you'll see a cedar tree. It is very large, and very old, and that's why I've left it. But, I have a problem with cedar rust on the apple trees, even though I spray. I have battled this for years, some years are better than others, as far as the quality goes. I have a Golden Delicious tree, and it's one of my favorites, but disease always hits it hard.
