Not surprising. There's been a lot of talk about them. If I'd had all my s**t in one sock a couple days ago, I'd be one of those buyers. Just give me a few weeks though. I mean to have one of them old Nitros.
Priced brass lately? Ouch.

Priced brass lately? Ouch. There is still the one showing on gunbroker. Nope, but I see cabelas is selling the Hornadys loaded $79.99.

I see on the hornady site, they want about $2 each for brass.

The '07 Grafs catalog arrived yesterday. Hornady brass is $28.99/20 delivered in US. They also show Horn 416 Rigby brass at the same price. Loaded rounds in both calibers are 71.99/20.
SOS PS I've had 3 boxes of 450-400 brass on backorder for 2 months now.

Think I was looking at it at Midway. Yeah, I just checked. Hornady for about $1.50 each. A-Square for about $5.20 each. Unfortunately the Hornady is listed as "coming soon". OOOHHHH! Dies are gonna be fun too. On Midway, RCBS 2-die set for $265. OUCHHHHH! That's kind of painful. Man, we're gonna have to do a bunch of shooting to recoup the cost of materials. But, as obscure as these rounds are, it's probably a worthy investment. Maybe once all the Ruger/Hornady stuff hits the shelves, things will moderate some. Let's hope.

Wow, that's a lot for dies! Hopefully, as you said, once this stuff hits the shelves, things will moderate some.

Let's hope. I'm headed to Nashville this weekend. Going to the deer expo and I think maybe there's somewhat of a gun show there as well. I hope I don't run across a 450/400. It might get ugly.

I've noted that there has been much anticipation concering the .450/.400. And being that I am a certified #1 Slut, I expected to have one myself. Last week my dealer told me that he had been talking to the Customer Service Dealer Rep @ Ruger and was informed that a production date had not yet been set. Then, yesterday he informed me that he would have one this week. I have 1st chance at it. However, he also informed me that Hornady will not be offering components for the handloader until their quota of factory ammo has been satisfied. And at $70+ for a box of unprimed brass, that makes it fairly pricey. He also told me that the price of dies from Huntingdon's is over $200, dealer cost. (And Redding doesn't even offer them) (Hornady's website say's: "coming soon") Mentally adding up the costs sums up that dies + 50 pcs of brass + bullets + in excess of $800 for the rifle, tells me that it will be over $1K just to fire the first shot. I think I'm going to pass.... Grasshopper

It's just money. I'll make some more next week. As for brass, if there's any Hornady ammo available, I'll be buying 4 or 5 boxes to get me started. That ought to be enough brass to play with for a while. I really hope I don't find one of these this weekend. I've got enough load work/shooting to do for now. Another gun to work on might put me into overload.

I'll be doing the same. Get a few boxes of factory to start.

It's all relative, as the popularity rises, the cost of components and dies should fall. I had occasion to talk to Redding on another subject and enquired if they would be offering 450-400 dies. The reply, "If there's sufficient interest." I did my bit, all you other guys need to let them know you'd like to see Redding offer dies. SOS

Hopefully, these dies and brass sell much lower now that they aren't 'special order'.
