Well I just ordered a '07 GMC Sierra 1500 E/C SLE2 for my new work truck. I had the option of the F-150 XLT, F-250 XLT, GMC 1500 or 2500, and the Chev 1500 or 2500. I like the exterior styling of the GMC better than the Chev (I particularly don't like the body colored corners on the front bumper on the Chev) and the Ford backseat feels smaller than the GMC. With the kids carseats in there it doesn't leave a lot of leg room. I really debated about going with the 2500, but the only two of those in our office both are experiencing tranny problems with the new 6 speed and are having difficulty getting parts. Anyway, it may be a little to late to ask, but what's the impression of this truck from those that own it?

Keep us informed as to what fuel mileage you actually see in real world driving.According to Edmunds,Motor Trend,Car and Driver,Truck Trend, and others, the GM engines with the fuel management systems have consistently fallen short of the EPA mileage ratings by much more than the engines from other manufacturers. They also state that these same engines seem very sluggish given their horsepower ratings.

I drove one with the 5.3 in it from Edmonton to Calgary, around town, to Cochrane, and then back to Edmonton. I filled it up in Cochrane and still had over half a tank left in Edmonton (avg speed of 125km/hr or so). I figured that is pretty good, although I didn't work it out in a mpg. It seemed to have plenty of power to get out and pass too. Definitely better than their old style.
