A lifelong hardworking gal, as nice as they come, that has clerked and managed at the local grocery for most of our adult lives retired, on a very modest income last month. We just got a call, she hit a lottery ticket for 5 million. Gawd I hope it's true.
I was in line once and an old Indian guy came up short on money for a package of burger..she said, "Joe, I made a mistake, this is on sale." She got him checked out and gone, and dug the other three bucks or so out of her purse under the counter to square the till.
Maybe there is something to the saying that good things happen to good people.
Well this is a fine pickle we're in, should'a listened to Joe McCarthy and George Orwell I guess.

Maybe there is something to the saying that good things happen to good people. We can hope, but I've seen a lifetime of examples of bad things happening to very good people, and of no bad things happening to bags of human excrement. Justice doesn't happen in this life.

For all of the $2 Bible clap trap and apron sayins you post about the Lord, shouldnt this; from your Christian learning be not a blessing to this woman? Gambling, buying chances, pissing away money, not trusting God with what you earn? Do you hope it’s true so that she can use it edify God’s kingdom? Or was just a reward for givin the store back three bucks and being nice to customers. You’re a pretty nice guy, you’ve said it yourself, will you win a jackpot for it? I kind of hope that’s what you mean for the reason you’re hoping for her.

She will likely have more problems than ever. People will come out of the woodwork and be her friend. She will get endless mail for money. She needs to invest it and not ever touch anything but the dividends. That will be about $60,000 per yr.
. I have heard so many stories of people going crazy after winning, and dead broke 5 yrs. later.

Had a friend that won 15 mil here in GA. He took the immediate buyout, or whatever they call it, and pocketed 7.1 mil. First thing that happened was his wife took control of the money because she told him he’d bankrupt himself in six months. She was honestly very correct and he knew it. She’d give him pocket change here and there to buy a new truck, boat or whatever, keeping him happy. All was good and he retired from UPS and enjoyed life. About two years later, he drops dead of a heart attack.
