In going through my powder cabinet I found a can of RL-12, not sure why I have this but thinking it may make a decent 223 load w 50s, maybe 55s.
Only have an older Alliant book to get data from but no other info.
Did anybody or does anybody still use this and if so what seemed to be a decent load in 223?

Never heard of, but if it's between 10 and 15, it should be suitable for the bullet weights you mentioned.

It's been OOP for years. I still have a few cans that say Hercules on the label & have relegated them to fireforming loads. It worked well in a 22-250 long gone DTFR with 50 & 52s. It strikes me as about like a short grained 4064... kinda like some older lots of 4895. Never used it in 223. The Alliant free booklet from '95 says around 27gr should be a good place to start for 50s thru 55s.

Go to castpics.net they have the old alliant manuals from 95-2000 which contain rl12 load data. Ive a copy of the 1995 manual I can email to you but it sounds like that’s perhaps what you have already.

It's in one of the old manuals that had a bunch of data copied from bullet and powder manufacturers.
