Memorial Day is for those who have given their lives for our country. Veteran's day is to thank those who serve.

Correct.

But it is so difficult to get that across to people.

Correct. We also use it as an opportunity to visit the resting spots of loved ones who never served.

for all three of my Uncles who gave it all during WW 2, Thank you.

My grand mother had 6 boys who went to war during WW 2, three came home....

Uncle Carl came home highly decorated from North Africa and Europe.... his letters home, you'd have thought he was on Vacation, instead of constant Combat, from 1942 to 1945

Uncle Bill, served as a Navy Corpsman all over the Pacific, he was on his Ship, a mine sweeper in Tokyo Bay, when Japan surrendered... then on a convoy, headed home in October 1945, they were hit by a typhoon..... the only ship that went down, was his Mine Sweeper....they had one survivor, and it wasn't Uncle Carl.

Uncle Charles, ended up marrying the Sister of Terry Bradshaw's Mom in 1942, he was shipped to North Africa with some of the first troops there. He was there for 3 days, when a Jeep he was riding in, hit a German mine, killing him and the other 3 guys in the Jeep. He is still buried in Tunisia..

Grandma had 6 sons who served in Korea, one was there for 2 and a half years in a Marine Long Range Recon Unit. the war ended on his 21st Birthday.
All of them made it home in one piece.

She lost 3 grand sons in Vietnam.

Today, not only do I remember my uncles and cousins who gave it all.... but let us not forget the millions of Americans like my Grand parents, who have lost their children in the wars our nation has been involved in....They also silently gave a lot to this nation, via their children who never made it home.
