I bought a '99 Lund Pro Sport 1700.

The locator that came with it is a Hummingbird Wide View 128. It turns on but does not work. I think the guy I bought if from kept the locator that matched the transducer but left the transducer on the boat.

Anyway, now I have purchased a Hummingbird Helix 7 Mega DI Mega Si G3 that should sync with the iPilot Power Drive V2 trolling motor that came with the boat.

I have a lot of research to do in order to get this unit mounted and working up to it's capability.

Any tip or suggestions?

I had a dealer rig mine, but I can say it pays to either have a really adjustable mount, or be present when they mount it to make sure it doesn’t get in the way of any other operations on your boat.

I have the same Helix, but G2. I haven't tweaked the default settings on it except to hide a few of the "Views" that I didn't like or need. I do recommend getting one of the map chips for it to get MUCH greater detail compared to the factory base map. You can often find them on auction sites at a lot less than what H'Bird sells them. (The really cheap ones are almost always pirated illegal copies, though.)

try the electronics forum at walleye central dot com.

This doesn't strike me as an especially tough rig. Power to your helix, new transducer on the back end most likely. I think your helix talks to your minnkota by bluetooth. Mount your helix on your dash.
Huge upgrade from your 128 it seems to me.

They're easy to mount and get set up. Lots of you tube vids. takes about an hour of your time.

Just setting mine up today. Used a RAM mount on the dash for the Helix 7, and using a Connect-Ease connection to the motor battery. Installing the GPS puck for the Minnkota Terrova troller as well. Pretty easy wire pull. Need to mount my transducer on the SternSaver I put on back. http://sternsaver.com/

Need to find a 1 amp and 3 amp fuse today.
