Does anyone decrease the poundage on their bow limbs in the off season? Or is there no need to do this? I keep the same bow for at least 10 years before purchasing a new one.

No requirement mechanically.

Physically - yes, if I'm not shooting for a long period of time, I'll drop a couple turns and work back into it.

I did that 20 years ago. But these days I shoot year round so I keep it at my desired weight.

I used to do it when I shot the bows with tear drop cables. Just wondering again, something set with tension all the time can’t be good.

Today's bows are designed to be at peak weight for their lifetime. There is no need to "turn them down". Even if you turn to minimum draw weight, there is still significant stress on the cables, cams, and limbs.

The only maintenance that you need to do in the off season is replace your strings and cables if you haven't done so in a couple years (I change mine out yearly) and retune the bow, even if you haven't changed stings/cables.

I only drop the weight to shoot leagues over the winter. Crank it back up as soon as it warms back up.
