Does anyone have a source for daredevel lures? I can't seem to find the weedless one in crackle frog finish. It seems everything has dried up, not just ammo and gun stuff.

Worked for me. I used to use hammered brass back in the 60's for trout on Montana rivers (Clarksfork and Bitterroot).

What great lures, we used them in Canada for ever, my father started us on them 50 years ago, I have them from one inch up to a six inch one. I actually need to re paint 8/10 of the old ones !
Thanks for bringing them up !

Can't help as I switched to fly fishing many years back. I cannot, however, even begin to estimate how many miles of cast line I wound in as a kid with a Dardevle on the end.
Good luck,

On man what memories. I can remember you could buy a package with 3 or4 different sizes for about a buck fifty. Love those old lures and tackle. I need to look through my "treasures" to see if any of them have survived. Thanks for jumpstart memories. Good luck in your search.

The Eppinger web site was the only place I could get what I was looking for. Ordered three, should have ordered a dozen

Haven’t fished with the Daredevil spoons since I was a kid in the late 1960’s. Caught bass, crappie, bluegills on the smaller ones back then. Haven’t thought about them in years. Good to see they are still in business.
Also fished with the Johnson SilverMinnow weedless spoons back then. Are they still in production?

The Johnson Silver (and gold) Minnow is still in business.

The Johnson Silver (and gold) Minnow is still in business. Cool. Caught a lot of bass on those when I was a kid in stock tanks and small lakes.

I still use the silver minnow tipped with a little 1" grub a lot in swampy river backwaters. Bowfin love those things.

A local lake has a lot of lily pads in it and is always just a bit off colored. I used to throw a Johnson gold minnow tipped with a black pork frog in those pads on heavy line and haul some dandy bass out. Plastics like the Senko replaced that Johnson minnow. I think I'll dig my Johnson lures out and give them a go this year. Fish there haven't seen anything like that in a long time.

The name for the bowfin here in rural Ozark's is dogfish. You only grab them by the lip once before you understand how they got their nickname.

I just catch everything for fun, not much of a fish eater. In the summers I mostly chase carp, redhorse, and drum from the boat. I do fish for bowfin sometimes. One of the rivers I fish is loaded with them in some old oxbow backwaters left from when they changed the river's course back in the early 1900s. Not sure it'd be worth the hassle to fillet one, though. They have ribs from just behind the gill plate clear back to the tail.

I hit a run of Stripers off the Neuse River last month, caught several in 30 minutes, all on a 1-3/4” copper-back red/white Dardevle. I have also had Shad hit them instead of the traditional flutter spoons. Shad run should start here any day now. I’ve bought most of mine locally but the supply has dried up, went looking for a few more and found none.
