To me "a nice place" doesn't simply microwave whatever came off the Sysco truck that morning.
I don't know where they would do that anyway? I worked at a Diner in my younger days and while the Sysco truck came, we weren't microwaving anything

Salad bar comments are also hilarious Maybe for city slickers, the restaurant we go to for prime steaks also has the best salad bar I've ever been to. They don't have table cloths and no masks have ever been required.

Some people think Waffle House is a nice place to eat. Some people think Black Angus is crap. The best places seem to be little hole in the wall spots that you happen to get lucky with.

I think I read that in Ben Franklin's day, two loaves of bread were a penny. The price at a “nice place”?

I like to order prime rib, then complain that mine is better.

They don't have table cloths and no masks have ever been required. I love it and I’m positive it’s great. Looks like a place to go to regularly, weekly or more. My point is that most upscale restaurants don’t have salad bars. I’m thinking special occasion places.

I am fast approaching the point of giving up on going out to eat. Ditto.

Wife and I took our oldest son and his wife to dinner last night for helping us move things out to the shop during our new flooring instal. $250 for the four of us but the food was very good.

I refuse to get steak when out. I can make a better one at home.
^^^This^^^ After 35 yrs in the business my family prefers to eat at home for a great meal. I do enjoy the freedom of not having to be the one that is expected to prepare the meal when we decide to dine out. Unfortunately it does not always meet expectations. I great meal and experience will run $100-$200 for two around my neck of the woods.

Agreed, and the same could be said about a burger, Mexican, Chinese or a fish fry.

Prices somewhat representative of most of the nice places in the area. Never saw a Tomahawk pork chop before. Got my attention ,all 18 ounces.

Prices somewhat representative of most of the nice places in the area. The tomahawk isn't nuts. Weis markets carry them (doubt the sell many) here. Was going to buy one the last time Dillonbuck(our Boxer) and I were left alone for supper. $50😲🤕 for three pound of meat with a huge bone. We didn't get one. Starting at that for the meat, the asking price for the meal isn't nuts. Still out of what I'm willing to pay. Don't think I've ever went over $30 for a single meal, not counting drink. No It's not ridiculous relatively speaking for 40oz of aged prime ribeye with all the trimmings .

My wife and I went to McDonald’s today! Ya I know. Anyway we hadn’t been there in about 5 to 6 years. She has Celiac disease. The bill was $26.and change. And big Mack , a1/4 pounder 2 large fries and 2 shakes. What the hell $26.. they had a sign that said hiring 16.00 an hour.

$12-25 here. But I'm thinking most on this thread wouldn't consider it "nice" by their standards. I've never paid more than $25 for a meal and I'd probably have buyers remorse if I spent more than that.
