Stocks were probably made for lighter calibres the action came with standard. Anyone doing a 577nitro conversion would have to get a custom stock.

I found one already done JWP475. Well a 577 barrelled action anyway. I was thinking of buying it but the demise/delay of woodleigh has put me off. Limited supply of ultra large bore bullets here. Might stick to your namesake a .475 cal as I have a store of projectiles

A one-off woo hoo !

Ron,
Yep that would be it. I almost pulled the trigger on one myself. Action, Krieger .700 cal NE barrel, CH4D dies, bertram brass, woodleigh bullets. Kreiger also did a 4 bore barrel and the action apparently was just wide enough for that too.

I believe that Barnes bullets are obtainable in Australia

You might want to check with Bertram - I know he makes a few different 0.510 bullets but not sure if he makes anything larger.

FWIW a 4 bore single shot rifle is being built by Rolf Backnik in Vic. The bare action was left over from another project. It was an incomplete action and Rolf is having to make all the internal parts. Jongmans also built large SS actions - there was one in 600NE for sale last year. Quite a few years ago there was a JV between Wal Winfer and John Saunders (Century Arms) where they had a run of big SS actions made and then barrelled in cals up to 600NE. Occasionally you see one of those come up for sale.

A lot of icons of Aussie gunsmithing in your post JFE. I know Bruce(bertram) did 585 bullets at one point at least as he sent me the first samples back in the 2000's. Not sure if he went full production though. Rolf mentioned he had some bits for a 4 bore last time I talked to him . Those guns were amazing, the new buyer must be well heeled, price is well into 5 figures. Yes jongmans built anything, a bunch of 50BMG bolt actions using cases necked up to 577,600, 727 as well. btw the 577 nitro this thread is about is actually advertised on ssaa gunsales if any aussies are interested. Barrel and chambering was done by Alan Swan I have found out. I will stick to something smaller this time.
