Growing up in MS, everyone heard of Jerry Clower.
I can remember when i was a kid, going to Grannies for Sunday dinner.
She had one of those great big console record players and would play her Jerry Clower records for em.

Use to listen to his albums all the time, funny without being dirty. Not many can do that.

I met him once while I was working security at a local concert. Extremely nice and polite man. When he walked up to me (I was guarding the entry door) he said “ whoaaa boy, you’re built like a Georgia mule!” He had me laughing from the start! He did a great show with no profanity. Something that is almost unheard of today.

I liked the one where one of the Ledbetters is having trouble cutting pu'pwood with his chainsaw. He takes it back to the store, the salesman pulls the starter cord and it fires right up. Marcell (or Durcell, or whoever) says,"What's that noise?"
