Introducing .... Jack. He's a 12-week-old British blue blood that cost me a small fortune. He's extremely good-natured and will begin pre-K in about a week or so. I can't wait to hit the pheasant fields with him next year. Of course, my daughter thinks he's hers and has made a space for him at the foot of her bed. [Linked Image] I love it!
[Linked Image]
Rick
Nice dog Rick! I've always thought Springers were great dogs, especially for my neck of the woods. Ever do any hunting out near Blythe, etc?
Dan

OK, OK, Rick! You have pushed me into this! You have really great looking dogs, and justifiably proud of them. [Linked Image] Soooooo, I guess I have to get a photo of my coyote dog and get it online. His name is Fluffy. [Linked Image] He is a small unknown breed, has a pug face, and long white hair. He just sits out in front of me while I call for coyotes, moving just enough to get their attention, and when the coyote comes in to investigate (and offer me an easy shot), sometimes I believe he tries to smile. Fluffy must have complete confidence in me, as he shows no fear at all. I'll get a photo and post it soon.
[This message has been edited by Critr Gitr (edited November 09, 2000).]

Good looking pup Rick. What breeding is the dog from and where did you get him from?
I suppose I could introduce myself!! My name is David and I live in Nebraska. I currently have 2 field bred ESS's in which I hunt, test, and trial them. I was pleasantly suprised when I found this web site and read posts from people that actually have ESS's.
Looking forward to reading more about your hunting with your great little dogs.

David

Hey, pretty little pup! I am also interested in hearing about the breeding. Have you always owned Springers (it looks like it)? I am considering a dog, and have been thinking mainly about a pointing breed (GSP or Britt), but I recently hunted behind a flushing Lab and had a blast. I bet a Springer would be even better!
Teach

OK, guys and gals. As promised, here's Fluffy, the coyote killer! (If you missed the description of his field performance, go back and read my post earlier today.) [Linked Image]
Actually, I don't know much about gun-dog blood lines, but somehow I doubt that Fluffy's pedigree compares to Rick's new pup. LOL, LOL, LOL!!
Oh, that's too much. I can just see poor little Fluffy screaming "Please shoot! Hurry! They wanna EAT me ... SHOOT already!" LOLRAOF
(Momentary pause to wipe the tears)
Hey Springer, welcome. It's real good to have you. Jack is a British dog from Ian Openshaw's Rytex lines. The dam was bred in the UK and imported with a bellyful of pups. [Linked Image] I really liked the pedigree, and was assured it is "superb" by my local spaniel guru (Pat Callahan at Gameland Kennels in Corona, CA). Here's a link to his pedigree:
http://www.citarikennel.com/BreacGemmaPedigree.htm
I sure would like your take!
Also, I received the summer issue of "Spaniels in the Field" magazine and there is a big article on Openshaw and the Rytex lines. Turns out that three or four of Jack's ancestors are pictured in "jolly good Ingland" with Openshaw. I thought that was pretty cool ... I mean, how often does that happen?
Hey Teacher. Actually, this is my first ESS, though I've been hunting over one for a few years. Jason (seen in some other threads) is actually my uncle Luis' dog, and he's the reason I went with a Springer. I used to run GSP's (John Merrel dogs, Bakersfield, CA), but have come to the conclusion that a flushing dog works better for my kinda hunting.
It would be an understatement to say that I am tickled with Jack.
OK ... and with Fluffy! [Linked Image]
Thanks all.
Rick
[This message has been edited by RickBin (edited November 10, 2000).]
