My google skills are failing me tonight. I’m looking for a swivel stud that is 1/4-20x1/2” and I can’t seem to find one. Anyone know who might make such an animal?

I would start by looking in that coffee can full of random gun stuff that you have on the shelf. Gotta be 1 or 2 in there

Gotta be 1 or 2 in there I spent the better part of a day looking through boxes and cans for a set of 1 1/4" swivels...know I have them, somewhere. Could have drove 10 minutes to the Academy store, and been done in a half an hour, lol.

It's easier to take a ride and drop $20, then try to find stuff some days.😉

I dug through what I have and everything I found was similar to the Amazon link - either the coarse wood screw types or the thinner 10-24 or 10-32. Nothing in a 1/4”-20.

I don't think I've ever seen one in 1/4-20. What is it going on and could you easily change the escutcheon inside the stock for a standard 10-32 version? If installed correctly they are pretty darned strong...

You building a trailer hitch or a sling attachment?
Well this is a fine pickle we're in, should'a listened to Joe McCarthy and George Orwell I guess.

Is it possible that someone drilled the escutcheon countersink completely through. I think that the escutcheons are 1/4" diameter. If so, one option might be to fill the hole with an epoxied dowel and then re-drill the hole #8 or #10 and countersink for the appropriate escutcheon. If you center on the dowel nothing should show.

Going on a late 50s Husqvarna. It has a sling swivel installed, which I removed and measured, but it is a fixed loop attachment and I want to replace it with a stud to install a bipod for an upcoming hunt. Don't really want to modify the stock to do so, I was hoping this was just a size that is no longer in common use and I just needed to find the right source for parts. Sounds like that is not the case.

Cut off a piece of 1/4x20 ready rod, get a 1/4x20 connecting nut red loc-tite them together and make your own, a little file time and a black marking pen or cold blue and you have what you. Just fill the old hole and redrill it, the new stud should cover the filler or counter sink a small washer under the stud.
After the first shot the rest are just noise.

Sounds like that is not the case. It's likely not "1/4x20", like others have said. That is too big. Most sporting goods stores sells uncle mikes sling stud kits. Pharmy needs one too. I'd bet is is more like 10-32 machine screw and not 1/4x20.
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

Trying to get back to square one. You don't want to make any permanent alterations. There should be some kind of "nut" (I've called it an escutcheon earlier, perhaps incorrectly) in the fore end that you screw the swivel into. One option: If it sits far enough below the channel you may have enough room to put a 10-32 nut on top of it without touching the barrel.. Another option: Is the "nut" removeable? Can you push it out into the barrel channel? If the nut is removable you would be able to replace it with a "nut" that is machined to size and threaded 10-32 (the size of every machine screw stud that I can find in my stuff). Any novice machinist should be able to produce this part. Either option would allow you to use one of the available machine screw studs. You may need some sort of washer to assure that the stud head does not get pulled into the 1/4" hole. If you wanted to be fastidious you may want to have a sleeve around the 10-32 screw to eliminate any potential wobble. Have you actually tried to screw a 1/4x20 bolt into that nut. Just asking because 1/4 is close to 6mm.

The easiest and most secure way is to inlet a 'T' nut into the barrel channel and epoxy it in....they are available in 10-24 and 10-32 thread sizes at any hardware store in either flat or with four spiked edges (shown on the left). From the outside, you won't be able to tell it's in there. Hope this helps. -Al

Ccard257,
Those look like a typical swivel and stud Husqarna used. I am guessing they are actually M6-1.25 thread and shank. I may be able to help out. I sent you a PM.

H S Precision used the bastardized 1/4"-20tpi swivel studs.
