Welcome to the ever changing world of puppyhood!!! We jsut go two yes two lab pups and they are a great addition! I was very firm in putting my foot down so they are outdoor dogs, and of course that lasted about ten minutes ! [Linked Image]
We love our pups and they are permanent members of family. i've got two black labs, and they are outside dogs as well (which would explain exactly why one is laying on my feet right now and the other is stretched across the couch).
anyway, i have the greatest of times hunting over them, and wouldn't give 'em up.
one thing to watch out for w/ a lab that is allowed in the house, and you won't notice this at 12 weeks old: when they reach full grown size, they have an amazing ability to effeciently clear a coffee table!! their tails are something else!
------------------
Hunting is not a matter of life or death. Which is exactly why I own a Springer and a GWP. The pointer will swim in aereator holes in Feb. (I live in Mn.) And is a rock solid retriever. And I'd put my Spaniel up against any amateur lab for upland game. And yet, I can put a full pilsner glass of beer right at the edge of the coffee table and find it still there when I go for my next sip. God bless labs, but tail-less dogs are definitley the way to go when your wife prefers white carpeting.

funny you mention the tail-less dog...the ol' lady has (more than once) threatened to remove my dog's tail (the other dog, 'her dog' is not at fault, of course). i'm serious, she really wants to remove his tail! while i think it would be funny to see a lab like that, i don't want it to be my lab!
------------------
Hunting is not a matter of life or death. Can you imagine what it would do to it's swimming? "Ole' duke went out after a mallard, and jest never turned 'round and came back".
