Very nice condition and extremely accurate but the stock has been repaired. I bought it here. What's a ball park for this rifle these days. I do mean accurate. Bluing very good. My pictures suck on this web site for some reason but the stock is gorgeous. Some of you will remember this rifle.
I pulled the Zeiss off it but shot it the other day with a simple 4 power at 100 and it always puts 3 under an inch. I have another scope coming and I'll try and do another one holer. Not bad for a half blind 69 yr old plumber. Loves Barnes TTSX. My last pre64 shot this good at 200 yds. witnessed. I get lucky now and then. True one good group don't mean [bleep]. The humidity is now messing with the stock tho. If I was smart I'd throw it in a Mac stock and sell every other gun I have.
The stock repair is going to hurt the value. My '56 shoots as well as your's. They are great rifles. It is very likely if someone buys this, they are not going to be buying it as a "collector" because of the stock, but they would probably be more inclined to put it in a Mcmillan or similar stock and hunt it. I vaguely remember your rifle, but don't remember the extent of the damage and repair of the stock. Pics would be great. Most of us know how pre 64's shoot.

My computor fs up the pics I send or I would gladly show the repair done by previous owner who may not have even been aware of as it is very hard to see. I did repair the cracks in recoil and tang area with stainless screws and have pics of that. It shot bug holes after that and a free float and bedding. The stock has great character like a fiddle. 06 is a bit much for my destroyed shoulder from Moto Cross now. Can't be a tuff guy any more, lol. Ill see if I can figure out why my pics suck so bad. Good to bounce this off you guys. My buddies at camp bust me for that target as well. You missed the bullseye. I handload for them and we test bullets every year.
BSA my Classic shot good to and I sold it. I need to learn how to aim tho. lol Blurry but that's a 200 yd group.
Ha ha. I was just kidding with you. Looks great to me. I remember your rifle because it shot so well. That 200 yard group is damn good buddy, as is the 100 yard group. I wish my '61 fwt 30-06 shot that well. 1955 is a great year too because that was the first year winchester introduced the 30-06 featherweight. I keep picturing your rifle in a hunters compact/compact edge though. Would be damn near perfect. Post a pic of that stock repair and maybe we can help with your question about value..

I'm trying to think about the last pre 64 fwt 30-06 I saw that I'd buy, besides the one I did buy. However, it is stocked in a Mcmillan supergrade stock and had a $350 Leupold and $200 mounts and rings on top.. Got rid of the scope and rings for about $500 (when I add in the shipping I paid for). So that reduced the price I paid for the rifle. Lets don't go there because your rifle is worth more than I have into that one.

I hope my 54 shoots that well. I got the stock sealed trigger adjusted and just need to get to the range now.
Although when I cleaned it I put a patch through the barrel it felt like it fell out the other end. Smoothest factory barrel I have ever seen and it wasn’t close.
