It was a perfect morning. Cool and no wind. Our game department is pushing hunters to take does in the early archery season. This old girl was a lead doe of 4. She was very thin and her teeth were very worn. Not a bit of fat in the body cavity. It appears our drought is taking a toll on the herd. She as coming to a protein feeder.

Sounds like she was the right one. Congratulations. Meat in the freezer is never a bad thing.

I like lean meat.

But if it's too lean, it's better to ground it up into burger and put some hardwood smoke bacon in with it as you grind it. Sure makes for some nice lunch and suppers.

Congratulations with the crossbow.

I ground all of that one except for the backstraps. I punched another tag on a nice fat young doe and will make steaks out most of it.
