The .308" 215gr Booger High Bird has a BC(.690),which is shy of a .264" 147 ELD(.697),all of which are light years shy of the .284" 180 ELD(.796). Hint.
The 7 Whizzum will simply squirt that much greater BC,at a better velocity and it ain't even fhuqking "close". Hint.
Simply whistle some of those 180's through your existing Montucky 7 Whizzum and report back. Hint.
Thank me later.
Just sayin'.................
I realize the merits of the 180 7mm and bc I've just grown fond of the terminal effects of the 215 308 and have much more field experience with it. The 180s are shooting awesome in my FC 18.5 7-08 at 2500ish I just need to run a few through elk to set my hook. The 180s are hard to beat in the wind and I'll generally take any advantage in the wind, bc being the Supreme advantage.
I think I'd be pretty happy with a 7 wsm and a 7mm Creedmoor slinging 180s, and I still have a big soft spot for standard 280s twisted right on a 700 la. I keep playing with 280 ai's lately but I'm coming back to missing my old 700 KS standard 280 in the factory mickey. One rifle I should have kep but foolishly didn't.
I'm hoping the 7 prc will nail down the sweet spot the plain 280 almost hits for me. At least the prc should come twisted right in factory guise, have mag space on an LA, and might feed well too.
If you where going for the closest to perfect 7 prc what action and stock would you run? I'm thinking 22" brux #4 fluted or #3 plain 8 twist. I like the fluted #4 giving me more shoulder on a threaded 5/8/24 but don't mind all the way to their #2 plain. I want an open top action that throws cases to the side not up into my turret. I've been liking my 700 remages more than many customs for that one reason.
So what's an ideal 7 prc blueprint? I want to get this one right which in my mind means starting at 7mm and ending with a case that feeds and functions well with a little room to spare.
