Unlike some here, I don't claim to be an expert, but I know what has worked and what hasn't. Sorry a few dozen dead little deer, some at fair to middlin' ranges doesn't measure up in your mind.
I have hunted in PA for over 40 years, have no experience hunting anything more dangerous than rabid coons or own any thumpers..don't need any. I do have several friends that build rifles, have hunted about anything anyone else here has and they ain't the kind to puff hot air. We'll just have to disagree sometimes I reckon. If there was only one good rifle, bullet, scope or powder, it'd be a might boring world.

dubePA, good post. I went back and read mine and saw that it could be taken the wrong way and was out of line. I apologize and wish nothing more than the best on your continued succesful hunting trips. I have seen a lot of the smaller caliber sierras and ballistic tips blow up on game and just wanted to express to everyone that there is a risk in using these bullets. I realize that I went about it the wrong way and apologize.

T'ain't botherin' me none, Hunter. We all have our favorites and a few non-favorites as well. BTW, the heaviest buck I've ever taken with a Btip was about 155lbs. I never been one to figure an extry 30 or 40lbs of meat is that much tougher to kill, but can't prove it...until I dump one that weighs closer to 200lbs. I don't figure the heart/lung assembly on a 200lb. deer will take much more punishment than that on a 150lb-er. Could be wrong.
Here's one to make your hair stand on end: some years ago the local (Tioga County, PA) gunshop's Big Buck contest was won with a dandy buck that weighed close to 180lbs, dressed and had one beautiful heavy rack. It was killed at 20 yards by a 12 year-old with a 20ga single shot (slug)...a fact which caused more than one old boy to leave the store mumbling to hisself, after looking at the Polaroid of the kid and the buck.
