Caught up with this buck right before Christmas, and because of his uniqueness with the mass, extra beam, and cape coloration, I decided to shoulder mount him.

Trying to decide what pose I want to use that will do him justice and show off the extra beam and all.

I suggest a wall pedestal with left turn. A second option is a floor pedestal where you can walk around it.

I would do a light left turn and a sneak with his head down

Cool looking deer!

Semi-sneak w/left turn, ears back (and offset) should do it proud.

Nice buck! McGuire’s taxidermy here in Clinton has lots of mounts so you can see them in real time. I’d suggest stopping by.

I actually carried it to McGuire’s to get it caped and the skull plate cut, so I can store it until I can get it to my taxidermist in Grenada. I looked at several of his mounts in the show room, still just can’t decide. LOL

This is what I would do with emphasis on ears back to not detract from the narrow, yet kickass rack.

Cool deer!

Yeah, he’s only 13” wide, and his longest tine is 6 6/8”, but still measures 134 6/8” due to his mass, 21" beams, and the extra 11 4/8” beam.

Full sneak, straight on is my preference but a little L or R wouldn't be bad.

A deceased pard had a narrow but tall, heavy buck like that. His mount is what made me really like that full sneak.

I like to get them mounted the way they were standing or doing when I shot them.

Sneak, semi-sneak,head right or left, that sort of thing.

That’s a really cool buck by the way!

Full sneak, left turn, ears turned and cocked. Places emphasis on the height and mass, makes it look wider than it is (about 17 inches.)

McKenzie 69wp or 6900. Nice mounts

Pick your turn based on the wall you’re putting it on and the characteristic you’re going to show. I would alternate the turn with that buck. Right side wall left turn etc.

The wall pedestal/WP is going to be a couple hundred more I would imagine but is pretty nice. Although if you don’t care about that styling of the back the 6900 is your huckleberry

Ears back like skane suggested. Get competition eyes with white showing.

Cool deer!

Congrats on a very nice Buck. Good mass and that extra beam is realy cool.
I also agree with SKane.

Heres a Pic of a couple Looking to the left. The left one is in the sneak position. The one on the right Is in the upright position. Its a good side by side comparison.

I’ve considered the 69 WP, just can’t stand the McKenzie head, would have to get it swapped out with a Mears head.

Slickyboyboo: I do not know the answer to your question but I want to relay what a cool Buck that is!
I hope what ever pose you choose does it justice.
Good for you.
