Looking for a 16 double.
As far as new I like the Citoris, haven't looked at but notice the Franchi line up.
I see the F.A.I.R offers a 16 but no clue on price.
Are there others that are better quality that could be had used for about $2k or are some of the new just as good?
Field gun. Not picky on 26 or 28".

I looked at the F.A.I.R. Iside (their base model) about a year ago and was quite impressed. The wood is a little plain, but the gun was nicely finished.
If you are considering used, there are a ton of things to look at in that price range. Fox Sterlingworth, L.C. Smith Field Grade, Ithaca NID, Lefevers and a ton of European guns. I ended up buying a Sauer boxlock non-ejector in excellent shape for less than half your budget. Be careful to get a gun with 2-3/4 inch chambers as many of the earlier American classics and European guns have 2-1/2 inch chambers and ammo for them is virtually unavailable right now. For that matter, so is 2-3/4 inch 16 gauge ammo. You'll become a reloader for your new gun very quickly if you want to shoot it much.

Have you looked at the DoubleShotguns.com gunshop at Lion Country Supply in PA? They normally have some interesting 16ga SxS guns in stock.

No, doesn't have to be new.
Prefer an O/U but a single trigger SxS could work.

Just to clarify, are you wanting new or used or does it matter?
If new, I would start and stop at a Browning, but that is just me. They fit me well and that is a big key.

I may not be smart but I can lift heavy objects
I have a shotgun so I have no need for a 30-06.....

I picked up a Citori Superlight Featherlight 16 O/U this year (GI) but only after seven or so years of casual looking. It’s quality, meets your price point, is light, and shoots well.
Double Gun is a good source as mentioned.

I have a citori lightning over under long tang first year build 1987. Cost me 800 bucks then. Went thru 2 labs and 35 years later still my favorite. Guns been through it all never failed. Lost track of the pheasants that were shot.

Not sure if its still there but I know where there was a Browning lightning 16 ga. It was priced around a grand. This is from memory as I considered replacing a white lightning I sold. But I would rather have a Brning 525 16. Pm I will give you the store info

Also Dickinson. The SxS 16 that passed through my hands, actually seemed underpriced for the value. The guy who purchased it from me has also stated he is elated with it.

I think that Brownings and Berettas are seldom a mistake. You should be able to get either gently used for your budget. My 725 Field has hundreds of rounds through it since I picked it up used in June, without a bobble. The mechanical triggers were a feature I desired, and watching others using guns with inertia triggers re-enforced that notion. I paid $1995, and it was in very nearly new condition.
The British shooting shows like TGS Outdoors, formerly the Gun Shop, have a lot of shotgun reviews. A quick check showed F.A.I.R. among them, at least in passing.
What fresh Hell is this?

Dads been shooting a 16 Dickinson as his primary gun for almost 10 years. He likes it. This after a push through cat tail sloughs with a 40mph head wind…

A big point in favor of Brownings, and maybe Berettas is that besides their general goodness, they have a lot of support available if something goes awry.

I love some wind as the pheasants never hear you coming, but 40 is a bit much !
