Read all ten pages and got some good info.

Few years ago I found a 1999 manufactured Ruger #1 in .257 Roberts. I haven’t hunted with it yet, but I have loaded up some Hornady 110 gr. Interbonds over 38 grains of Rel-15. It’s a good, accurate load in this rifle.

Anyone used the Hornady 110 gr. Interbonds on deer and hogs from a .257 Roberts? My longest shot is around 100-130 yards, but my closest shot could be 25 yards. These closer shots are why I went with a bonded bullet.

Thanks.

i like this load and will try it since i got a bunch of 100 gr.Partitions ,thanks for posting ,Pete53

Pete53, that load is with WW Super 164g case/brass, federal 210M primer @ 2.880 COAL. I use it in three different 257s. 26" Ruger No.1, 24" Savage, and a 20" Ruger Hawkeye.

>thank you i will make a note on this . Pete53

I started out shooting 100gr Hornady SP in my 25-06 and they killed like lighting. But the inside were a disastor area! Didn't like that so went to 117gr Hornady and cleaned up the disaster area. Both bullet's did kill the 100 gr faster. Deer hit with the 117gr bullet just walked off a bit and laid down dead. The 100gr bullet deer normally got erked off their feet. My impression with plastic tip bullets is that the tip has to go somewhere. Use 75gr V-max in my 243 and those bullet's exploded on a 1 1/2" foam backer shooting targets! Hate to see what would happen to a deer with the plastic tips. Of course we all have different experiences and if they don't bother you, use them. How one could stay intace, the bullet not open and go through a deer leaving no blood trail I cannot imagine. Only real uses for that plastic tip I think is varmint bullet's like th 75gr V-Max or in monolithic bullet's to insure the tip opens in the first place.

the biggest horned whitetail buck i ever shot with this same cartridge the 257 Weatherby mag. and scored non-typical 201 B.C. dressed 217 lbs. shot this big buck at 30 feet bang flop .

i spend a lot of loading and time shooting the 25 caliber over many years my new favorite is the 103 gr. Hammer Hunter bullet but the 75 gr. Hammer Hunter i just purchased 200 of these bullets and plan on trying these bullets in my Ruger #1 - 1B 257 Roberts and my grandson`s Ruger #1 - 1B also but with Reloader 17.these older Ruger #1`s the twist is a little slow so i feel the 75 gr. bullet should work better and with less recoil for grandson too.

0.243" 85 grain and 0.257" 90 grain, both BTHP Gamekings. They work great when they work, but when they stopped working I lost confidence in them and moved on, mostly to Nosler ABs and Partitions.

Now with a bc of .410 sighted in 2.6 inches high at 100 yds it zeroes at 250 yds and has 4.9 inches drift at 250 yards in a 10 mph cross-wind. Let's suppose that same 117 bullet had a bc of .610 (which is not unreasonable). Still sighted in at 2.6 inches high at 100 yds, at 250 yds its 0.4" high (negligible difference) but wind-drift is only 3.2 inches instead of 4.9 inches. At 300 yards the difference in drift is 7.3 inches versus 4.6 inches and nearly an inch less drop. So even if limiting your shots to 300 yards, it would be better to have higher bc .25 cal projectiles. Instead of defending these poor bc .257 projectiles, you all should be doing what I'm doing- advocating an improvement in their bc.

Totally agree, I'll never give away BC, but I do have a couple cool 25's I like to hunt with and work great for me. I also have the smattering of 243, 264, 284's, etc that handle the longer, pointier, bitchier bullets.

But none of it makes a real difference at the ranges or the places the 25's get hunted. I still don't have too much trouble out to 600 with the 25's as long as the winds aren't hammering, but until I get up to the Mashburn or RUM nothing in between really does much better either.

Those are my thoughts as well. Good take Scotty.

Thanks but I already have the 110 gr. Interbonds loaded. Wondering about the 110 gr. Interbonds .25 cal or n particular.
