A long range shooter with skill and proper equipmnet will never need to hold in the air. A long range shooter with skill can hold air without the proper equipment. I would like to know what you call long range.. A long accepted definition in the long range comunity is 600 yards and beyound... If you are holding air at these distances I do not believe that a high degree of hits can be expected..

IN target shooting that I do, short range is 200-300, mid range starts at 300 and goes to 600, and long range is 800 and beyond.
Just my 2cents.
And nope I'm not holding over trying to guess air dimensions... I'll click...

I'm not a long-range shooter- just medium-range- but my hit count goes way down when I have to hold air.
With a reticle or turret, not so much.
