I have a 541-S that has a problem with spent cases sticking in the chamber. I cleaned the chamber thoroughly and that helped but some still stick. Some brands worse than others but none extract reliably. Anyone else have this issue?

Crud and carbon can build up there and in the extractor cuts in the back sides of the barrel where the extractor sets when the bolt is closed.

Great thread! I bought both of my 541's used at a LGS - heavy and sporter barrel versions. The heavy barreled one was accurized by Brian Voelker with the barrel shortened to 22". I'm considering shortening it to 20". Typical grouping at 50 yds with preferred ammo: The sporter barreled one shoots as good or better. Mine have been in the back of the safe for too long and need to be shot more.

Anyone have a source for M541 magazines? A metal one would be splendid.
JD338 I think mine came with a steel five round magazine, but I loaned the rifle out and it came back absent magazine, so I had to order a new one. The only new ones available seem to be 10 round cheap plastic, so I bought two. They are not very confidence inspiring. Here's a source: eBayThank you Hawkeye JD338

JD338 Email John at: jreedtn81 gmail.com He manufactures steel flush fitting magazines for the 581/541 rifles. They are excellent. Thank you K22 JD338

These work flawlessly and at times are sold 30% off. I bought a handful at Christmas a year ago so discounted. Think Mag-Pul quality. https://www.trekkermfg.com/collections/remington-541-581-magazines

K22, Thanks for the info on the 788 trigger. I've heard that before but also heard there's some modifications to make it work. Also the lug that holds the pin to secure the trigger has been changed by the gun smith. Instead of soldering it back on he threaded the action & threaded in a bolt, then drilled the pin hole. I don't think it's dead on, which is why I think the safety quit working. With the bbl being so heavy I only take it to the bench. Maybe some day? May also get one of the steel clips but have 2 ten shot & 2 fives for now. Also wouldn't mined a new cz 457 varmint in left hand, GWP. πΎπ£πΎπ£π¨π¦

Might be a more popular topic in rimfire subforum.....
Did have a 541T HB and was not impressed.
My Anschutz 141 whipped it.

Saw a Kimber silhouette last week Think that overall looked and felt better than 541. Dont know how current prices compare.
But I just hunt so a plastic stocked CZ is good enough. Sub half inch at 50 yards for 5 w SK rifle match. POS 455. π
