I am just getting started in reloading, but I had a question about a factory load that I'm sure can be answered here, although a little inappropriate for this board. It may require some of you to do a little work either digging out the info, or crunching the numbers yourself, so thank you very much in advance for your responses...<P>The Federal Premium .270 Win 130 gr ballistic tip has a s.d. of .242, and a b.c. of .433. The velocities, energies, and drop listed by Federal are all tested out of a 24" barrel.<P>I know I'll lose about 100 fps using a 22" barrel, but what will the other ballistics be changed to?<P>With a 100 yd zero, what is the drop at 50, 200, and 300 yds?<P>With a 200 yd zero, what is the drop at 50, 100, 300, 400, and 500?<P>How about the same info, again w/ a 22" barrel, using the 130 gr. XLC? I don't know the s.d or b.c.<P>Thanks again. Any information will be tremendously invaluable.

Tx Hunter,<P>Welcome aboard. here is a site,that will allow you to crunch any numbers you may desire. SD,has ZERO function on ballistics,all bullets of the same weight and diameter,share identical SD's(120gr .284" Ballistic Tip,V-Max,X,etc,have the same SD of .213). However,BC's radically differ and that is what constitutes differences in downrange performance.<P>Anyhow,here is the site. Load the Ballisticator program and plug in your BC and other critical info.
