I "skored" an 1895 Winchester a while back. It came with 8 boxes of Ammo, 300 Gr. Hornady Interlock.

So when I had the opportunity......

German "Guild" Double , 405 Winchester.

7 pin Sidelock, 25' barrels.

Should be here in the next week or so.

That is a most useful double for 'Merica! To say I am envious would be quite an understatement.

GW, please bring it to the hog hunt. I have plenty of ammo and I'd like to shoot it.

Most likely it will not get here until after I've already left. If by some miracle it does, I will bring it.

I do have an 1895 that is chambered for the 405 that I can bring.

PM forthcoming.

I'm in the process of buying a Francotte SxS in 405. Can't wait to try it on some hogs.

Also got some ammo, brass, dies and bullets with it. Should keep me going for a while. Still looking for more reloading supplies though.

Have fun with that great looking rifle.

Outstanding piece and I love it in 405. It was a popular caliber in India for tigers and general use. Years ago I had a chance to buy a Manton in that caliber, but I hesitated..and lost. Well done!

PS: I have a couple of cases of Hornadys so if you ever need any, let me know.

Had my Francotte in the blind last night on a search for hogs. Unfortunately none showed up.

I did shoot on the night before, however I was using my 6.5 PRC. It was an axis hunt so longer shots were expected……

Also got the axis that evening so 2nd day was all about varmints and hogs with the 405.

Oh well, there will be other trips soon!

I’ll post some pics of the 405 at the ready when I get home.

Got some pics and info on my Francotte 405 Win Double rifle. Received this info from the seller. It's a very solid working rifle that's seen a bit of time in the field.

It's not a safe queen and I'd love to know everywhere it's traveled. Came from the estate of a guy living on the east coast.

The barrels are now with JJ Perodeau having a red dot optic installed. My aging eyes just can't see he sights well enough for it to be used properly in the field.

Griffin & Howe No.810 Boxlock, Ejector, Double Rifle in .405 Winchester, built by FRANCOTTE of Belgium on their small 28-gauge sized frame.

Greener Crossbolt action with barrel extension

Key action screws have set screws

Great dark figured feather crotch walnut stocks, straight grip, some light handling marks. Checkering sharp. Gold "SAFE" inlayed under the safety.

Double Triggers

Raised rib with a single standing rear sight. Rib is configured high so a good machinist could mill the appropriate groves for scope mounts or Red Dot sights.

Barrels are in excellent condition- 24 5/8"

Length of Pull to a checkered steel butt plate with Trap- 14 1/2"

Sling swivel in butt stock, and thru screws on the barrel rib for sling stud forward

Weight 8.5lbs.

Regulates well with Winchester Teddy Roosevelt Commemorative and Hornady Ammo

Very classical DR. Kudos on your great find.

I know this is big bore/express rifles,

but one more that I was lucky enough to snag.....

No maker ID, just Kruppstahl on either barrel.

On the way here, I had it drilled/tapped for a Pic Rail so I could mount an RMR.

Made time yesterday afternoon to try it with the fixed iron sights.

I bought a box of 150 gr. Federal rounds

I had two ancient boxes of Remington and Peter's 170s

First outing @ 50 yds.

Now that I know where the point of impact is vs the placement of the bead in the v-notch I may be able to do better.

I mounted the Vortex Venom, but did not have the amount of elevation necesary. Boresighted the Burris FastFire and that appears to be a go.

Gonna try that soon.

Next will be handloads to see what I can do to stack left and right.

ya!
