Update…

I had time (and remembered) so I swung by and surprised that it’s still there. It is original EXCEPT the original owner bought it 1954 and had it rechambered immediately to 375 Weatherby….other than that it is, in some respect, still a 375 H&H with the luxury of churning out fire formed 375 Weatherby brass. 😀

It’s $1299 and I had it set aside while I continue to mull over something that I don’t need….but it’s NEVER been about need, it’s always been about feeding the illness. 😀

Thanks again guys.
Let me know where it is and I may have a go at it, I could use the action

It had a rear site that I think is factory but it’s not the same as the one on my 1 year older 30-06…the 375 rear site was a “rough V” with no outline.

I’m being “that guy” because these threads, like the one I started 😀, are exceedingly difficult to answer without pictures and details but I decided to throw the dice and do it anyway.

I think they’re asking $1200 or $1300 which seemed like a good deal for a pre-64 375.
So you want to arbitrarily look at it and decide what "for it's age means?" When a perfectly valid designation for condition is available as a standard? That is beyond ridiculous! A long while back I sold a huge stack of rifles brand new in boxes here from the '60s and '70s. Would they be better than new for their age?

This is an old thread. I'm wondering if the OP ended up buying said rifle in the OP? The price would have still been pretty good, even though it had been rechambered to 375 WBY. I actually sold one a couple years ago, and got far more than the price the OP stated. As for the 375 H&H pre 64 model 70, if in original condition, they sure hold their value well. I saw one over the summer that was original, and the asking price was $1,999.99. That rifle didn't last long on the rack either. I went back to check on it, and it was gone a month later. Then I saw another one in better condition for nearly $3,000.00.. Like what has been said here, by some guys in the know: The H&H actions are worth the asking price of the OP's complete rifle in question. Then the stocks are worth quite a bit as well, if all original.
