My Colt 6920 w/ BURS, a 1x4 super chicken, and a small reddot. I have 2 earlier made 6920 with the Restricted marked lowers. I need improved triggers and a floating handguard put on the one in the pic.

probably not a practical choice but I love my K31.
Wish I had more ammo for it. What an awesome bolt action. I bet you could sling some lead in a gun fight with that! to me it just feels like that gun would never let you down.

I’m surprised no one has suggested a TC Contender or Encore. With a Contender pistol you have a single shot that will never fail. Easily could carry multiple barrels and swap them in 10 seconds.

Apocalypse vs homeland/guerrilla war are two completely different situations, as would be just bugging out and disappearing into the wilderness. For wilderness, it would be hard to beat the versatility of a shotgun. Bird shot to slugs will cover 99.9% of hunting or protection scenarios. For homeland invasion, any suppressed nato/combloc assault rifle would work until you get smoked by either air/armor assets that you would have no way of defeating and more then likely avoiding. This isn't a 1980 Red Dawn movie. Even in the mountains any near peer adversary who could invade us will find you. Post nuclear apocalypse, take your pick. There would be plenty to scavenge in that scenario (both ammo and guns) and you would just result to working with what you have. Plus, there would be plenty who would disregard any civility and revert back to survival mode. I would have no qualms with shooting such people in the face and taking their goods to provide for me and mine.
Had lots of time to think over four deployments on these scenarios. Unfortunately, none are good scenarios and most wouldn't survive it. Even if there was a perfect tool kit to be had. Most would lack the training, conditioning, and mentality to survive. Most would die. The real world isn't a Hollywood
flick The Carnage would be more than most could Handle . You loose your Focus and your Road Kill .. Once things break down you have Hours to make your Predetermined Move .. After that it’s Savage with no Grace ..

Like most clowns you immediately jump in and think a gunfight is in the offering, most family types just want to slip away and keep their family intact and fed.
These are my opinions, feel free to disagree.

Clean water, medicine/medical care and communication will be the most immediate issues in a scenario like this. Regarding communication the ability and access to electricity to charge devices and extra batteries for lights, ect. will be a priority.
Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats.

In a survival situation where human vs. human events occur, an AR15 would be my first choice, with some Hornady 55 grain SPs for shooting game.
Else, I have a Tikka T3 stainless sporter in 308 with CTR bottom metal and a Athlon 2-12 that would be hard to beat for general purpose bolt gun.

22 win mag????? I couldn't find it locally in a store right now if my life depended on. Where are you going to find it when there is no ammo supply? It's loud and subject to rimfire primer issues. Bullet selection is dismal at best. Hardly a man stopper.
16" barreled AR in 556 with suppressor here. A quality one is easily good for thousands of rounds between maintenance and has been repeately proven on battlefields. If I ever had to shoot 1000's of rounds...in a survival situation, God help me. Ammo is everywhere, spare parts/guns everywhere, can pull the upper/lower pins and stash hidden in a backpack, and can provide rapid fire. Can snipe to 600+/- yards with it, shoot elk to varmints, and non-flying birds.

Something that's not going to feel like a 6" diameter fencepost strapped across your back at the end of the day.

Re: Pick one rifle, if your life depended on it
If this means people vs people I'll take my AK47.
If it means survival, food etc. I'll take my 10-22.
