Hi. I had a thread about Ginex primers last year. There are small dimensional differences between primers from different manufacturers.
With US made large rifle primers, the maximum dimension is considered to be 0.213 inches or 5.4mm.
Here are two Euro made primers - S&B and Ginex. S&B primers are made in the Czech Republic and are 5.3mm in diameter, which is about 0.209 inches. Ginex primers are made in Bosnia and are 5.5mm or about 0.216 inches. You can see the diameters on the boxes.
These measurements are approximate, given the manufacturing tolerances and rounding up or down of the numbers.
Note that Russian made Tula LR primers (chart below) are listed as being 5.33mm in diameter.
How much difference does a couple of thou make? It might make your primers difficult to seat if you have new, higher quality brass like Lapua for example. Lapua is made with closer tolerances. As the cases are used though, subsequent firings may loosen up the pockets, and the slightly larger primers will be a better fit. It all depends on how hot you load them.
The Ginex box shows that they were made for 7.62x51mm. A tight fit helps to keep moisture out and makes the finished cartridge more robust.
I have used all of these brands and generally use Ginex primers for US made brass because tolerances are looser than Lapua, Norma and often, once fired military brass. I also load Ginex for cases whose primer pockets are beginning to get loose. It's an option.
