Anyone ever been to England? My daughter got a job over in England. She graduated college last December. I’m going with her to get her settled in. I’m nervous about going because I don’t handle stupidity very well and I don’t mind speaking up when I encounter stupidity. My daughter is already telling me to let her handle things there because she knows how I am. Is there anything y’all can tell me that might help me over there?

Which part of England? My wife is English, and I’ve been many times over the last 25 years.

So, you are going to a country to which you've never been where the laws, customs, and very usage of English are different from what you're accustomed to, and you are going to be the arbiter of what is stupid? Look in the mirror first.

I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to lead people to believe that English people are stupid. I’m saying that I’m pretty redneck and not familiar with the ways of England or their customs. I’m saying that if a woke mofo does something stupid, I’ll say something about it. I had an aunt from England and she was a very nice conservative lady.

I find Southern England a bit more stuffy than in the North.

Outside of petty theft in London or the occasional bombing in the underground, there’s not much to worry about. I’ve never felt unsafe - especially in small towns. Find a pub, have some food and drink, and enjoy.

This is what I’m looking for. I’m not trying to talk chit, just looking for a little advice from people who know. Thanks Leanwolf. That’s my biggest worry is not having the ability to defend myself.

Of course. Stayed a week in Huntingdon and London. Did the touristy day trip to Bath, Stonehenge, etc. Next visit will be to Bovington for the tank museum and up north towards Manchester/Liverpool.

One more thing to the negative people, I never said the English are stupid. I only said that I don’t do well with stupidity. I deal with stupid people on a daily basis without being over 50 miles from home.
