Don’t know what this guy was using as a guide, but other than the ‘87 Turbo Buick, the ‘67 Vette, and the Shelby “Snake”, I like these picks. The Turbo Buick never really turned my crank, and I always counted the Vette and the Cobra as “Sports Cars”. To me a Muscle Car is an otherwise mild mannered family car that the factory stuffed with a big hammer. I’d submit the ‘70 Nova SS 396, the ‘70 440 Super Bee, 64 Dodge 413 as replacements. Besides, half the damn threads on the ‘Fire are about trannies. We need a car thread!!! 7mm

I love the Mopars, but I admit I got a soft spot for any year Chevelles. I forgot about the Fairlane 390 GTs too. Awful sharp looking cars! A buddy of mine had a ‘69 Galaxie GT 500 fastback. I got a soft spot for them too. Tika, it’s always been my opinion that those ‘Cudas of the early ‘70s were the best looking body style Chrysler ever had! I damn near bought a ‘73 when I went in the Army, but having a wife and a kid, I talked myself out of the payments! 7mm

I like the Grand National and GNX but, I wouldn't really call them a muscle car. They came along way afterward and it's just a hopped up 231 V6. I personally like a lot of the classic muscle cars. I got a friend who has a numbers matching '70 Roadrunner. Limelight green with black vinyl top. Bucket seats with console and Hurst pistol grip 4 speed shifter. Air Grabber hood, and 383 Magnum. He's had it since 1972.
My neighbor and his family had quite the collection of Mopar Muscle, including a ‘70 Superbird, 440 and pistol grip 4 speed. His son was racing a 33 Plymouth coupe turned drag car at Beaver Springs near Harrisburg. I was 14 and got to go along with the parents in that Bird! It’s a trip I’ll never forget. Dave is 6 years older than me, and he had several really nice cars while I was growing up, but he was a hellyun and tore most of them up! A ‘67 Le Mans, a ‘69 Roadrunner (383 pistol grip 4), a ‘74 Charger SE, and a ‘70 GTX. 3 of the 4 got wrecked, the GTX was finally sold. “Gue” is my younger brother, and we often heard Mom & Dad worrying about where Dave was and what he was doing. We promised each other that we’d keep our schit together, and we did. We raced at P-Ville and carried on, but we kept it within reason. He had a beautiful ‘64 Galaxy XL with the 390, I had a 72 Monte Carlo with the big block 402. There were quite a few nice cars around in the early ‘80s, but both those cars were super nice! I was fond of that Galaxy. Gue started talking about selling it and getting something else. I told him to let me sell my Monte first, I’d buy it. He changed his mind! Both cars survived, but I sold that Monte when I built a stock car after I got outta the Army. Every time I see a first generation Monte Carlo, l feel like crying. Gue still has that ‘64, but it seldom sees the daylight. Regardless, I’ve always been a car nut, and when I hear that throaty rumble going down the road, I’m looking. Doesn’t matter what make or model, I love them all! 7mm
