Usually, this is how it works. They think they’re saving face by slow-rolling the departure of the dumbass that cost them 7 billion (so far), but they’re wrong.
I still don’t believe however, that this happened in a vacuum. Doe any big company leave such a major marketing decision up to one person?

Whenever something like this happens someone has to fall on their sword in an attempt to show the world that they’ve fixed the problem. The problem hasn’t been fixed though because the corporate culture that thought this crap was a good idea hasn’t been fixed, it’s still there waiting for another attempt. It’s kind of like socialism, the Dems never give up on the idea, they just wait a bit, rebrand it, and come back pushing it again.
