I found a Savage 99 at a gun show. It has a 20" barrel, take down model with metal butt plate in 30-30. Serial number 269,XXX. It's in pretty good shape with beautifully grained wood. The bore is nice and shiny & the action is very smooth. Seller wanted $500 for it and I bought it. Is it a 99H?

Gonna have to post pictures in the image gallery, maybe. Didn't work. For the time being I can't post pictures because I don't upload them to a site and they're too big for this site.

A gun is a tool, Marian; no better or no
worse than any other tool: an axe, a shovel
or anything. A gun is as good or as bad as
the man using it. Remember that. Shane

Nice, he didn't have the .410 barrel though.

99-F which is the later version of the take down 1899-H. $500 for a 99 is pretty much a bottom price these days.

Very good deal if it's in good shape. Good deal if it's just a good shooter with a nice bore.
