the trigger on the current production remington 700s: walker? modified Walker? Something new? i've a current production ADL in .308. slick and shoots very well. Trigger has a TINY bit of creep but is eminently hunt-able. adjustable for creep? Replace with a timney?

I think they are still calling it an " Mark Pro" trigger. It is NOT a Walker.
They proved problematic for me and I switched the guns all back to Walkers. YMMV

That's the best avenue to take... Congrats..

Before I retired I 'round-filed' a bunch of those new Rem 700 triggers and replaced 'em with TTs.. The owners were very, very satisfied..

Yes on the TriggerTech!

Bought a 700 sps used in 260 while back and the trigger is supposed to be adjustable but was only able to reduce it about a lb so I chucked it and put in a Trigger Tech primary. Third Trigger Tech I own, like them well.

The Walker trigger was discontinued in October 2006. Anything made 2007 or newer has the new trigger. It is essentially the same trigger, but without the trigger connector that was causing problems with the Walker trigger.

There was a recall on guns made 2007-2014 because adhesive dripped into the trigger assembly on a handful of guns on the assembly line. That trigger is a solid design and won't cause any problems unless you got one that had adhesive in it. Anything 2014 or newer should be fine.

Remington never did an official recall on the older guns. But part of the settlement of one of the 100+ lawsuits required Remington to replace any trigger on a 1946-2007 rifle with the Walker trigger. They never advertised it, but if you send them the rifle, they replace the trigger at no cost.

But that was the old Remington that doesn't exist anymore. I have no idea how the new management will deal with that or if they are even required to do so.

Rather than deal with the hassle of shipping a rifle I'd just buy an aftermarket trigger and replace it. That's what I did.

The new one that I bought had the XMark-Pro trigger that Remington had been using prior to their demise. I have replaced the spring that's under the adjustment screw with one from Ernie the gunsmith, and it adjusted very nicely. But, I usually just replace all my Remington triggers with either a Timney or Triggertech.

Have two newer ADL's probably 3-4 years old.

One factory trigger tuned down nicely, no creep or over travel, little under 3 lbs.

Other has a tiny bit of creep and over travel, but breaks decently. Its going down the road shortly, otherwise it would be replaced.

+1 on getting a Trigger Tech

The recent 6.5 bell&carlson model I bought new with the X-Mark...the X-Mark wouldn't adjust...screw all the way out or all the way in...same pull weight.

Replaced it with a Trigger Tech the following week. Very crisp.

I had a Model 7 Predator with one of those triggers, and it would fire as soon as the safety was released. I've had a ton of 700's and 7's, and it is the only one with a trigger issue that I've had. The rifles that were recalled and had the triggers repaired by Remington will have a small punch mark on the bolt stop release that you can easily see.

The first X-Mark Pro triggers that replaced the Walker style did not have the adjustment screw in the trigger shoe. As the OP said, this is a good trigger, as long as you have one that was repaired or not messed up with the adhesive. After a couple of years of production, the X-Mark Pro trigger was made with the trigger pull adjustment screw being located where you could get to it without having to take the rifle apart. This trigger pretty much sucks, and only very rarely will adjust down nicely.

Add me to the list for Trigger Tech. Just bought a new 700 SPS with the X Mark Pro. Replaced the trigger after 8 rounds. I took both screws and the spring out of the front and it was still about 6 lbs. The TT is much much nicer. Hardly any travel before it breaks and adjusted easily to 2.5 lbs. The range is 1.5-4 lbs. I really like the click adjustment also.
