My son will use this some but more than likely a backup camp rifle...Just a pure/simple backcountry elk/deer setup. T3x Superlite 6.5 creed, trigger adjusted, skim bedded. Warne steel base/rings. Leupold VX3HD 3.5-10X40 CDS ZL. I do need to cut down LOP to 13.5, other than that should be ready to go. Will shoot 139 scenars out of it (I have heard they may kill animals....lolol) Should be a handy, solid, hunting rig for whoever is carrying it.

That's a sweetheart, Hiaring. I'm sure it's going to be a tack driver.
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

Nice setup.
Since when did Tikkas become $1199-1299 rifles (sportsman’s) Geez, they must have taken a price jump.

I’ve taken a liking to the laminated ones and they’re a couple hundred more. I’d say the OP has a pretty darn nice “backup rifle”. The kind that becomes the primary one once he shoots it!

Good bullets properly placed always work, but not everyone knows what good bullets are, or can reliably place them in the field

I just scored a SL in 6.5 CM myself. You just can't go wrong with a Tikka!

I just today scoped & shot a new T3x Lite Stainless 223. I put it in a Tikka laminated stock so it matches my 30-06. Scoped alike, this pair should be a great hunting & practice combo. I’m becoming a fanboy.

This rifle will retire me I bought this one long ago as well when they were considerably cheaper. 7 rem mag, I put it in a SAKO classic stock, muzzlebrake, bolt handle and a Zeiss 4-16x50 scope. This thing has more battle scars than I can recall and has killed close to 20 critters from 50-622 yards, including mule deer, elk, shirts moose blackbear, antelope. 150 scenars are flat killers. This has been the epitome of a tool for me. A killing tool.

I have an older Tikka T3 in .223 with a 1/10 twist. I bought it from EuroOptic years ago being told and advertised it was a 1/8 twist. Either way, it's been nothing short of stellar. I could care less about it being a long(er) action for a .223 or the fact that max OAL is 2.260. When the barrel goes, I'll do someting different. Until then, it's doing a fine job. Weight, trigger and feed/extraction are all right there.

Hiaring8, very nice rifle. " This has been the epitome of a tool for me. A killing tool." I have the same rifle chambered in 260. It shoots 139gr scenars into tiny little groups. They are also flat killers. I also have a Tikka T3x 6.5 Creed that my daughter and grand kids shoot. It makes for a great backup/camp rifle. It loves Hornady 130 and 140 grain ELD-M's. Its just as accurate as the Sako.

Had Tikkas for decades. Never had one that wouldn't shoot accurately right out of the box.

So no one is going to bust your balls for "skim bedding" this new rifle, like they did Pete53 a month or so back? I'm all for it. It keeps them consistent shooting for the life of the rifle. Not a damn thing wrong with doing this with a Tikka. Way back when we were doing the MOA all day long challenge here, there were not too many Tikka's posted in that thread, except for yours and mine. If I remember right. There's absolute beauty in a rifle like this. You'll have to let us know how it shoots for you, but I'm expecting stellar results.

I hunt in Idaho's Selway Bitteroot and Frank Church wildernesses yearly for elk and deer and travel many many miles in some of the roughest terrain in the lower 48.
7.5-8 pounds is just fine for me....The 8 pound Tikka 7 rem mag in the last pic has killed a lot of critters in that country. I never hesitate to take that rifle on those hunts.

Sweet set up. Boring accurate. I bought the same set up for my boy. It was little too big for him at the time so I kept it for my self and my oldest daughter and he got the kimber hunter in 6.5. The tikka has 3-12 Nikon M in Talley’s. While the kimber is lighter. It’s little too finicky for me and the action is no where as smooth and easy as the tikka. The mag is also short where I can’t use the same tikka loads. Have to seat the bullets in pretty deep. Unless you’re super extreme all day hiker, I don’t think you really need 6 lb rifle. 7 lb scoped tikka is best bang for the buck

All of them do something better than the 30-06, but none of them do everything as well.

Thanks. She is pretty and does everything I could ask for. She’s Lite, durable, practical, affordable, butter smooth action, tack driver, ton of after market…. What more else can you ask from a hunting rifle?!?
