A pard of Mine is buying a Bergara B-14 Ridge in .243 Winchester for his coyote rifle. Anyone here have any opinions of the Bergara rifles?

10ā twist on a 243 is fine for a coyote gun or a deer gun, and that has always been the case.

This guy hunts deer in Ohio with a Muzzleloader or Winchester 350 Legend. He hunts Yotes with 55 grain .243 ammo. Iām thinking the 1 in 10ā twist should be ok. Thanks for the responses.

Have a couple Ridge's in 270 and 300WM and just let a Terrain in 6.5CM go. Nothing wrong with a Bergara, all of mine have shot MOA or better with the 300 doing better than 1/2 MOA. Since they're a 700 clone everything is available aftermarket. Triggers are good from the factory. The only possible con in my view is the weight (reason I let the Terrain go), the heavy contour barrel adds some to it. I wouldn't want to walk all day with one but no issue for walk and set up several times. If weight is a deal breaker just buy a Tikka.

I've had 3. The Hunter in 6.5CM was fine, although heavier than it needed to be. Liked it well enough to try a Ridge in 308. Never could get it to shoot near as well as it should. It was adequate for hunting, (around 1.5MOA), but I didn't buy it for that. I let it go. A few years later found a Wilderness Ridge in 308 that I REALLY wanted to like. But it wasn't any more accurate than the previous 308.
I even sent it back to Bergara. They tweaked a few things and returned it with a 3 shot target measuring just under 1/2" using 168 gr Sierria Match ammo.
I wasn't able to find any of that ammo and wouldn't pay $60 for a box of it anyway. I never got it to shoot under 1" with any of my handloads. Loads that were in the 1/2" range in other rifles.
Sold all of them and replaced them with Tikka's. The Tikkas cost less, weigh less, and are more accurate.
Another minor issue with the short action Bergara's is that the load/ejection port is so small that they are hard to load when scoped. Of course, the Remington short action has the same issue.
Most people don't really want the truth.
They just want constant reassurance that what they believe is the truth.
