What's the good, bad, and ugly (besides the stock)?

I am not in love with the magazine but it seems to feed reliably. For the price (679 off of gunbroker new) it seems to be a nice rifle with more upsides than down.

I don't love the stock or the magazine, but I like them enough to have bought 4 of them in 243, 6.5 CM, 308. and a 22 CM that is waiting for its new barrel to arrive. The 3 that I've shot have shot fine.

I like the adjustable trigger, out of the box accuracy and the .257 Roberts chambering. Didn't like the tan stock, I plan to have it painted. However, in the camo KRYPTEK stock the stainless 84M rifle pleases my tired eyes:

I got lucky and picked up a Hunter in 6.5CM SS and plain tan stock that shoots really good but it never leaves the safe and needs a new home.

6.5CM top - 7-08 bottom. Hydro dipped stocks - lots of options out there. Replaced bolt handles from Chris84 here on the fire - easy peasy. 3X9 SWFA MQ. Factory triggers are excellent. All up with loaded magazine... they make a darn nice package.

I’ve got the tan stock/stainless in 257 Roberts and the hunter pro with the black stock in 280ai, I don’t mind the stock myself, really like the trigger, of course love the overall weight.

I would like to have a Montana in .257 Roberts... might have to settle for a Hunter one of these days.

My son’s had one since very early in their production. Zero issues. They were on my list of possibles when I decided I needed a new .308 a couple of years ago, but I found one of the others first. I’d certainly prefer one thats available over a Montana that isn’t.
What fresh Hell is this?

What's the good, bad, and ugly (besides the stock)? Seems like a great rifle for the money. My only qualm with it is the detachable magazine. If they did an ADL version I would be all about it.

I bought my first Hunter 6-8 weeks ago. I really like the ergonomics of the stock, have grown to be OK with the mag box, and like the package. I think the stock is not as stiff as I'd like it. It's better than most OEM plastic Tupperware but you won't get it confused with the Montana stock.
Overall it's a pretty solid package. Mine is pretty accurate without any mods except making the trigger 3 lbs. I may bed the action at some point.
Adversity doesn't build character, it reveals it.

I bought a Hunter Pro in 308 about a year ago. Put a Toric 3-15x42 in Talley LW rings. Bedded the action and adjusted the trigger to around 2.5#. It's shot the few loads I've run through into 1.5" or less. I settled on a load that hovers around 1" groups, but there's more to be had. I was pressed for time and have more load work to do. I have no complaints with the rifle. Looking to pick up another for JES to rebore to 358 Win.

Same boat as others. Picked one up at cabelas a few years back in .308 for way under todays retail.
Like the trigger and weight. Shoots just fine.
Dislike the stock. Painted mine after reading a few threads on rokslide. Added a bold handle from Chris here.
I like it but some days I want a montana for the stock upgrade.

It's been done by at least one "Fire" member. There's just enough meat it looks like, but it is close.
