In the middle 70's I built sails for the "Golden Goose" spent a lot of time on the boat helping Gordon learn them and the boat....he was a very personable and a time I will never forget....
He was always one of my favorites , gonna miss him but I still have all of his albums. I hate it but it is to be expected. Most everybody I listened to when I was young are now in their 80's and you cant live forever although Willie is giving it a damn good try. Guess Willie is well pickled , or smoked !
Grumpy old man with a gun.....Do not touch . Better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6. Don't bother my monument and I'll leave yours alone.
I listened to The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald Sunday night on a “reaction video” — todays’s young people commenting (podcast) on music of the 60’s,70’s etc., music of a generation or two before they were born. Music they’ve never heard.
Many are amazed at the quality of the storytelling and that there is very little contemporary music, and few artists today who match the talent or depth of those past times.
TORONTO - Gordon Lightfoot, the legendary folk musician whose silvery refrains told a tale of Canadian identity that was exported to listeners worldwide, has died at 84.
The singer-songwriter died of natural causes at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto on Monday evening, said Victoria Lord, the musician's longtime publicist and a representative for the family. He had suffered numerous health issues in recent decades.

The bean counters finally got leverage over the artists. Music has turned into $$ in, $$ out .. just another revenue stream. The safer the product the less chance of loss so they make it all sound the same.
Anyone who thinks there's two sides to everything hasn't met a Mbius strip.

It’s a haunting song.
For those in the area, a visit to the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum at Whitefish Point is time well spent. Haunting is a good word for it.
GL asked: “Does anyone know where the love of God goes when the waves turn the minutes to hours?” I’ve been on the water a bit and can kind of relate. My little girl and I discussed it and decided that His love was there the whole time. One of my favorite memories as a dad. RIP Mr Lightfoot. Your legacy will endure.
Gord will be laid to rest with his parents in Orillia. The public can drop by and sign a book of condolence on Sunday, May 7th from 1-8 p.m. at St. Paul’s United Church. The church is at 62 Peter St. N in Orillia.
He was the best of the best songwriters/storytellers, and could perform his art on the stage as well as anyone ever sang their own songs. His work always hit me deep in the heart and soul, and it's not quite the same world knowing he and his kind are leaving it.
Definitely one of a kind who will be missed, but his music will last forever.
RIP Mr. Gordon Lightfoot
