I found this .280 on Gunbroker. The seller listed it as a CDL, but I think it’s a Mountain Rifle. He hasn’t responded to my questions. It’s a C prefix serial number, early 90’s I believe. Mountain Rifle or CDL?

Wouldn't be a CDL. Appear's to be "LJ" code which is Feb 1989.

Thanks guys, I was fairly sure it was a mountain rifle. 22” barrel also, I think CDL’s were 24”.

CDLs come with a big chintzy looking black pad.

KICK-EEZ pad would be an after market pad. A pretty good one too.

Now you know what it is and it's gone. My rule #1 never buy a gun from someone to stupid to even know what it is.

Some of the later 700s have gross thick pads on them. Look to be about 1.25" thick. Some ugly deal breaker for me.

The seller never responded to my inquiries, so to me, that’s an easy pass. It went for over $900, closer to $1100 with sales tax and shipping. No big loss.

The action alone is worth more than that.

I don't know about that. Some of my best buys were from guys that didn't know what they had. Like an original TI 7mm-08 for $650.00.

I got an M1 Carbine and 1500 rounds of ammo for $500. I even told the lady she was leaving money on the table and she didn’t care.

None! It's not my responsibility to educate people. I bought it for his asking price. I couldn't believe it was still there when I contacted him. crazy
