Another $400M in aid to Ukraine announced by Trudeau on his special trip there. Last time the defence budget was increased and money taken out of it to go to Ukraine. The only money kept in the budget was for diversity training. Nothing for renewal, repair, replacement of equipment. Wonder what department will be impacted by this new aid package this time?

Hugh, DND takes a hit every election and whenever there are special projects that require funding. This is not a surprise. i mentioned this in an earlier post.

You have to understand history in order to deal with the future. That is why there is always a concerted effort to get contracts signed on important military projects ASAP. The money that is set aside by contract is not available for "first grab" by any sitting government.

I worked for a contractor for 11 years after I got out of the military. That company is still in business because of long term contracts and changes to how the uniformed military conducts their affairs.

This practice is unlikely to change when the Liberals are defeated. WRT contracts and allotments, you have to get with the civil servants.

... was hopeful when ex-military Erin O'Toole was chosen as CPC leader but he turned out to be a big red-tory marshmallow and did a last minute double back flip on gun control essentially "screwing" thousands of gun owners who supported and donated to the CPC ... expected more backbone & integrity from a military man
