I'm just not sure the rifles would move that much quicker if I rebarreled them to 7.62x39. I'm thinking maybe going to 6mm ARC or 6.5 Grendel may be the best way to go. Or even .300 Ham'r...that one seems to be getting some favorable attention, but I don't want to put $300 barrels on them to sell them.

Cripes. What to do, what to do.
If going larger than a 6mm I am going with the Ham'r.

I wanted more than 5.56/.223 for hog hunting.
I went with the 6.8mm Rem SPC!
I have NOT been disappointed!
I now use the 6.8 as my primary deer, pig, vermin, around the house round.
I think 6.8SPC is the State Cartridge of Texas.
A lot of pigs have fallen to it.

Definitely not always.
If set up correctly they run fine.
Extra points for those AR's that can run AK mags.

I was loading my 30-39 ammo today and thought about this thread. I learned to shoot the 10 round straight mags in the 30-39, works just fine. I do not shoot the .311-12 bullets.

SOTA Arms sells the .308 barrels with 1-10 twist, when they have them in stock, I run 150s at around 2,500 fps with 1680 or 335. Makes a nice light weight hog rifle. It is like a 30-30 with a 10 round box mag.

The AR-10 Armalite is a heavy beast by comparison to the AR-15, with a 16". A tripd is about all you can do with the 308on an all night hunt.

My PSA shoots pretty accurately doing close to moa with Russian steel cased stuff. I recently found out that several of the higher cap mags I bought for it don't work though. I need to look into it further and figure that out but it hasn't been a priority. I keep an AK with 3 loaded mags in the garage for emergencies though. It's a nice zastava and always goes bang.
