Found this NIB thumbhole stock for a LA M70. I haven't had a thumbhole stock before, but based on the price felt it was worth trying.

The stock arrived today and my first impression is, the stock is really nice, maybe the most comfortable stock I have or have used before. The stock seems to be awesome.

I'll post more pics later once I put the M70 in it. But for now, excited about the stock.

Found one I'd forgotten about, just minutes ago, though a Pre-'64 70 inlet. Was gonna go KungFu 7mm RemMag,but cain't like the idea of peeling that much meat away on a schitty receiver,to still be second fiddle to Rem 700 OEM COAL latitude. Hint.

I like more than few T-holes. Hint...............

I think all the laminated stocks are heavy. Lot of glue in them. Only one I ever saw I liked was a walnut on walnut! Friend in Montana had one like in the photo. I never could get used to the thunb hole other than just shooting off a bench. Don't think he could either as when we'd go hunting he always grabbed his 600 Rem in 350 Rem Mag, I think it was a 600, maybe a 660! His was a 264 Win Mag and he was going to sell it. Claimed the barrel was shot out but didn't do bad shot out, kept five shots under an inch!

I have 3 thumb hole stocked guns and love them all. I find they are easier to make offhand shooting more accurate. Don’t know the semantics but I like them. All of mine are synthetic materials.

Haunted by "a gun I should have bought".

Sako action, octagon barreled 257 Weatherby. In a beautiful, slim, walnut thumbhole.
With a big Nikon.

20 years ago, they wanted $1000. Which I could have paid, but we weren't flush and
it wasn't a good financial choice then. Wish I would have though.

They feel nice, but I can’t warm to the way they look.

That is how I have felt about them my whole life, until the last few years. I am converting my go-to bolt rifles in 30 06, 300 WM and 375 Ruger to super nice figure claro walnut thumbhole stocks and having the side safeties modified for use with the trigger finger in the shooting position.

They still don't look as good as a classic sporter stock to me, and I think they never will, but they are so damn nice to hunt with I like them a lot. I have Savage 99's in 450 BM and .308 for hunting on the move and have the original sporting stocks for the bolt rifles for back ups if I ever change my mind.

I have not tried these in the mountains yet, but I am pretty sure I am going to love them there. I will be taking the 300 WM and 375 Ruger to Africa and I have zero doubt they will be perfect for that.

For whatever reason, the 300 WM feels like the hardest kicker of the lot, by a noticeable amount. The thumbhole stocks reduce felt recoil by a good amount, at least for me, and the 300 WM is a pussy cat now.

The pic is of the 450 Bushmaster bolt rifle in a laminated stock.

Back from vacation and work hell week that followed. The stock is a Bell & Carlson Premier Carbelite. Fit around the tang wasn't right and I took a small amount of material off by flat file. It's okay for now but needs a bit more removed. Fit around the action and barrel is great as is.

Pics with the action and barrel.

I have two scopes not being used...a Meopta Meopro 6x with #4 reticle and a Swarovski Z3 3-10 with #4 reticle. Need to decide which scope.

Overall the rifle and stock have a nice feel. I believe shooting off hand or from an elevated blind, stand or my barn will be really comfortable with this stock.
