He certainly know more than I do about the AR rifle!
You ain't the only one, Sam. That was educational. Things seem much simpler than they really are, I guess, when it's all working right. Some of that stuff is or was self evident, but a good deal of it was things I never thought about. Glad to have seen it.
Don't be the darkness.
America will perish while those who should be standing guard are satisfying their lusts.
He said that Black Rain gas key staking looked good. It looked horrible. Compare the BR staking to the SOL staking, or any BCM, DD or Colt staking. That BR gas key may as well as had no staking at all. Otherwise, it was a good comprehensive assessment.
The guy makes a living working on ARs and teaching it. Many of his gauges are self built to test all those obscure dimensions.
Almost every video, he repeats that the videos are not meant to review a brand, or judge it. They are for teaching purposes. So folks can learn. He covers up branding during comparison videos, avoids endorsing anybody.
Certainly there are several reasons for this, but one is that nobody makes perfect parts. Everything. Not even the Gucci guys.
Even so, Black Rain is not on the desired list. Maybe they should focus more on the part and less on the Logo!
Parents who say they have good kids..Usually don't!
There is a local gun shop here that really pimps Black Rain. I haven't bothered to look at them because I am not in the market for a $3000 AR15. Not when a Colt, FN, or BCM rings up for less than half that amount.
Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats.

They are one of the companies breaking bolts. That's how they got on my list.
You didn't use logic or reason to get into this opinion, I cannot use logic or reason to get you out of it.

Seems a bit suspect to me. Way too many issues for that to pass even the most lax QC. For all I know it's a hit job on the brand... Not impressed with all the logo stuff but to each their own. Good demonstration of knowledge though, I would like to know if his inspection protocol is published.

Is Black Rain over in the Joplin area?
The last time that bear ate a lawyer he had the runs for 33 days!

Chad calls out anything and everything that's wrong - ZFG on what brand it is.

Somewhere in Missouri if I remember right. I think when they first hit the market the shop owner I'm speaking of met them at a show or something and ended up taking a tour of their facility/shop. He really bought into their hype.

He needs a gauge to check the distance from the bolt face to the breach face. If that distance is excessive, you have a case head dangling out the back of the chamber, unsupported, and can cause a case blow-out. That won't be picked up by a head space gauge.

Run it up, until you blow it up, then back it down a bit.
Sinister, I'm not saying he is misrepresenting his findings. Not at all as he displays sound QC acumen. I am referring to 1-2 nodes up before he received the rifle. I bet the manufacturer would like to know that there is a complaint of this magnitude floating around and will address the findings.

This guy doesn't do "hit pieces".
Feel free to sign up for his course.
