hello and happy 4th everyone,

I always have such good luck on this forum i figured i'd ask my question here. I decided i'd collect old Winchester 1873s and have a representation in each caliber. so far, i have a 32-20, 38-40, and 44-40 (this one in a saddle ring carbine with a shortened tube). the only one i'm missing is a rimfire, i've seen a few offerings but they are 5k or more. am i stuck or can these be found for more reasonable pricing? anyone know where one can be found? Thanks for any guidance!

Condition is everything on the Winchester 1872 .22 caliber rim fire. Not that it's not the case with other collectable's as it is!
Less than 20,000 we're total production out of the over 700,000 total 1873's mfg. The .22 cal. short, long, or very rare .22 long rifle(hard to Find) Have always been pretty desirable.
Most are a little worn out and beat up and some have been re-lined. Easy to tell with the ring at the muzzle. With a 24 inch barrel .22 cal. rifle is fun to shoot.
I think you can still get lucky and find one it'll just take some patience.

Here is one. It’s not cheap, but the bore sounds worse than the price. Finding a 1873 .22 with a good bore is almost impossible. I have one with the best bore I have ever seen in a Winchester 1873 .22…

This one is mine, has a great bore and shoots fantastic. Be prepared to spend plenty of money to find one in decent shape with a good bore…

A local shop has a pretty good one. I think it's priced around $3000. The shop is Arizona Arms in Gilbert AZ. I don't have their number handy but I can get it if you can't find it.
