You can open one of the hole's for a compass.This used to be a Sav 99 collector site a few short year's ago.The real collector's left.As Jed would say "post-mil junk".Funny how thing's change.

99A in 300 Savage is definitely rare. Never seen one in the flesh. And I have seen 7mm-08s, cut checkered 284s, and 22HP solid frames, and on more than one occasion.

Tough one to spot. smile

About 15 years ago I passed on a really nice 1899 Short rifle in 38-55, made in 1910, for $1700, because it had swivels on it. Had great bore, no cracks, no D/T. I haven't really been looking, but, I've never seen another.
